Trans Gran Canaria with The North Face
From March 4 to 8, 2026, Gran Canaria vibrates to the rhythm of the Trans Gran Canaria, one of the most iconic trails in the world. Dive with me into the heart of this 27th edition, where the island transforms into a playground for thousands of runners from around the world.
The Trans Gran Canaria The North Face 2026 stands out as one of the flagship events of global trail running, attracting thousands of enthusiasts each year on the Spanish island of Gran Canaria. This 27th edition, taking place from March 4 to 8, 2026, confirms its status as an unmissable event for runners of all levels, from beginners to elite athletes. Organized by Arista Eventos and supported by local institutions such as the Cabildo de Gran Canaria, the city hall of Las Palmas, and the Government of the Canary Islands, the race also benefits from the major partnership of The North Face, turning it into a true trail festival, combining sport, friendliness, and respect for the environment.

The 2026 program stands out for its diversity and ambition, with no fewer than eight events on the menu, each offering a unique experience. Starting on March 4, the El Gigante Vertical Kilometer kicks off the festivities with a breathtaking ascent of 1,060 meters of positive elevation in just 5.5 kilometers, a challenge reserved for the most enduring runners.
In the following days, participants can choose between various formats: the Half (23 km) and the Promo (12 km) for a quick and technical discovery of the island, the Marathon for fans of classic distance, or even the legendary Classic, a 126-kilometer event with 6,764 meters of positive elevation that crosses Gran Canaria from north to south, with a nighttime start from Las Canteras beach.
Finally, the Family Trail, a 5-kilometer race open to all, concludes the event in a festive and family-friendly atmosphere, ideal for introducing the youngest to trail running.

The North Face, as the main partner, is launching a rich and immersive activation program aimed at transforming Gran Canaria into a global epicenter for trail running. Beyond the races, the brand offers meetings with its elite athlete team, workshops, and a runner's fair held at the Expomeloneras Convention Center, where participants and the public can discover the latest innovations in equipment and interact with industry players.
These activations, open to all but subject to registration due to limited capacity, strengthen the community aspect of the event and allow for a total immersion in the world of trail running. Furthermore, The North Face and the organizers emphasize the importance of respecting the environment, with awareness actions for the preservation of the natural spaces traversed, such as the famous Roque Nublo, accessible only to runners and the organizing team.

The 2026 edition aims to be innovative and inclusive, with significant new features. Among them, the return of the route through Roque Nublo for the Classic, an emblematic and protected place, offers runners a unique experience in the heart of breathtaking landscapes. A new race, specially designed for beginners, is also proposed in Teror, sharing its course with the Family category, which enhances the friendly and accessible nature of the event. With over 4,800 athletes already registered and bibs sold out for several events, the Trans Gran Canaria 2026 confirms its international appeal and its role as a catalyst for sports tourism on the island.

Beyond competition, the Trans Gran Canaria is a true celebration of trail running, where performance, self-overcoming, and sharing come together. The closing ceremony, which rewards the athletes and highlights their achievements, is an opportunity to emphasize the spirit of mutual assistance and passion that drives the community of trail runners.
The event, which benefits from strong institutional and private support, also contributes to the visibility of Gran Canaria as an exceptional sports destination, while promoting values of sustainability and respect for nature. For spectators as well as for runners, it is an unforgettable experience, where everyone can find their place, whether by participating in a race, encouraging the athletes, or simply enjoying the unique atmosphere that prevails on the island during these few days.
